SnapTree Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of SnapTree, software published by Oosan Studios, LLC. Please read the sections on captured content and liability — they describe responsibilities that are yours, not ours.

SnapTree is licensed, not sold. You are responsible for having the right to capture whatever you capture. Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law where you live.
1. Who you are agreeing with
SnapTree is published by Oosan Studios, LLC, a limited liability company organised in the United States (“we”, “us”, “Oosan Studios”). By downloading, installing, or using SnapTree you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. If you use SnapTree for an employer or client, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms on their behalf.
3. Licence to use the software
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use SnapTree on Macs you own or control, up to the device limit of your plan. SnapTree is licensed, not sold. We retain all rights not expressly granted.
You may not:
- Redistribute, resell, rent, or sublicense the software
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted
- Remove or alter proprietary notices
- Circumvent licensing, trial, or entitlement controls
- Use the software unlawfully, or to infringe anyone’s rights
4. Trial, plans and pricing
Every installation begins with a 14-day free trial of the full application. A payment method is required to start the trial. You are not charged during it; at the end of the 14 days your card is charged for the plan you selected and the subscription renews automatically until cancelled. Cancel at any point before the trial ends and you are charged nothing.
Paid plans, at the prices shown at checkout:
- Monthly — $9.99 per month
- Annual — $102 per year
Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax, which is calculated at checkout. We may change prices for future billing periods with reasonable notice; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
5. Automatic renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, until cancelled. Monthly plans renew monthly; annual plans renew annually.
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription inside the app, which opens your billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal — it does not shorten the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until that period ends. Cancellation on its own does not generate a refund; see section 6.
6. Refunds
SnapTree is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee. Full terms are on the Refund Policy page, which forms part of this agreement. Nothing in it limits refund or cancellation rights you may have under mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction.
7. Payments and Lemon Squeezy
Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record. They are the seller for the transaction, handle payment processing, and are responsible for calculating and remitting sales tax and VAT. Your purchase is also subject to their terms and privacy policy, and your receipts and invoices come from them.
We never receive your card details. They do not pass through and are not stored on any system we operate.
8. Device and activation limits
A subscription may be activated on up to 2 Macs at a time. You can release a device from Settings → Subscription → Deactivate This Mac, which frees the slot immediately. Deactivating does not delete anything on that Mac.
Sharing a licence or its key outside your own devices, or attempting to circumvent activation limits, is a breach of these terms.
9. What SnapTree does, and what it does not
SnapTree organises screenshots and screen recordings you create, performs text recognition on them using Apple’s on-device Vision framework, indexes them for search, and can record your screen with system audio. It can optionally send recognised text to an AI provider you configure with your own credentials.
SnapTree does not capture anything on its own initiative. It acts on files you create and folders you point it at, and records only between an explicit start and stop.
10. Your responsibility for what you capture
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of SnapTree complies with applicable privacy, recording-consent, copyright, confidentiality, employment, contractual, and other laws and obligations.
That responsibility applies to everything you capture, store, process, record, or share using SnapTree, including:
- Screenshots and screen recordings
- System audio captured during a recording
- Video calls, meetings, and conference software
- Websites, documents, and messages
- Client information and employer information
- Confidential, privileged, or proprietary material
- Copyrighted works belonging to others
SnapTree and Oosan Studios, LLC do not grant you any rights in content owned by third parties. Installing our software gives you no permission you did not already have to capture, keep, reproduce, or distribute someone else’s material.
Recording consent. Laws on recording people, calls, meetings, and audio vary by country and by state, and some require the consent of every participant. Obtaining any consent required is your responsibility, before you record. See Content, Copyright & Recording Responsibilities for a plain-English explanation.
We do not monitor what you capture and have no ability to tell whether you were permitted to capture it. We are not responsible for your unauthorised use.
11. Your content
Your screenshots, recordings, notes, tags, and library remain yours. We claim no ownership of them and no licence to them. They are stored on your Mac in your own folders — we have no copy and no access, so we cannot retrieve, restore, or moderate them.
12. AI-assisted features
AI features are off by default and require your own API credentials for a provider you select. When you enable them and process an item, recognised text and limited context are sent to that provider on your behalf.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, and you should review it before relying on it. Your use of a third-party AI provider is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy, and their processing of what you send is outside our control. See AI Disclosures for exactly what is transmitted.
13. API credentials and third-party services
You are responsible for any API credentials you supply, for the cost of usage billed by that provider, and for keeping the credentials secure. Store them only on machines you control. If a credential is exposed, revoke it with the provider — we cannot revoke it for you.
SnapTree interoperates with services we do not control, including your chosen AI provider, Lemon Squeezy, and Apple’s operating system frameworks. We are not responsible for those services’ availability, changes, or acts.
14. Intellectual property
SnapTree, its name, logo, interface, and underlying software are owned by Oosan Studios, LLC and protected by intellectual property law. These terms grant you a licence to use the software; they transfer no ownership.
15. Updates
We may release updates that add, change, or remove functionality. SnapTree does not currently install updates automatically — you download and install new versions yourself. We do not guarantee that any particular feature will be maintained indefinitely.
16. Availability
The application runs locally and works without a network connection for ordinary use. Trial and subscription verification requires periodic internet access; SnapTree tolerates being offline for a limited window between checks. Our entitlement service may be unavailable at times, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of it or of this website.
17. Disclaimer of warranties
SnapTree is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted or error-free, that text recognition, search, or AI output will be accurate, or that it will meet your requirements. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oosan Studios, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of SnapTree, even if advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to SnapTree will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
19. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Oosan Studios, LLC and its members, officers, and contractors from claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable legal fees arising from your use of SnapTree, your breach of these terms, or your capture, storage, or distribution of content you were not authorised to capture, store, or distribute.
20. Termination
You may stop using SnapTree at any time; cancelling your subscription is described in section 5. We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these terms, including by circumventing licensing controls or using the software unlawfully.
Termination does not touch your files. SnapTree stops functioning; it does not delete, move, or encrypt your screenshots, recordings, notes, or database. Your library remains on your Mac, in your own folders. Sections 10, 11, 14, and 17 through 21 survive termination.
21. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Governing state, venue, and any dispute-resolution mechanism have deliberately been left blank pending review by a licensed attorney. No arbitration clause, class-action waiver, or jury-trial waiver has been drafted here, because those provisions carry consequences that should not be generated automatically and are unenforceable or restricted in some jurisdictions.
Until this section is completed by counsel, disputes are governed by whatever rights and forums apply by default under applicable law.
22. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above and, where the change is significant, noted in the release notes. Continuing to use SnapTree after a change means you accept the updated terms.
23. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions stay in force. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, AI Disclosures, and Content & Recording Responsibilities, are the entire agreement between us regarding SnapTree.
